This week Mrs Kearney’s Primary Two pupils dived into the magical world of fiction by the children’s author Julia Donaldson!🪄📖 They enjoyed listening to the adventurous tales of ‘The Gruffalo’ and ‘Superworm’🪱, the heartwarming stories of friendship in ‘Room on the Broom’ 🧙♀️ 🧹 and ‘The Snail and the Whale’ 🐌 🐳 and many, many more! The boys and girls continued their learning on Venn diagrams, comparing themes, characters and settings from the well-known stories. They also worked in pairs to create their own stories, featuring three of their favourite Julia Donaldson characters. The pupils had great fun exploring and matching percussion instruments to various characters.🥁They experimented with the instruments, using sounds to express the characteristics and moods associated with each character. To finish, the pupils voted for their favourite books, using a smiley face or a heart. 😊❤️ Here are some photographs of our wonderful week of learning in literacy!
